When KPOP Meets COSPLAY
It is really a breakthrough that KPOP and the well known anime trademark COSPLAY, meet together and combine in one big event. Kfest Manila Events management brought this as their first event of the year and as usual, it turned out as a success. Lee Dahae and Micky Yoochun casted in new drama
There was a rumor that the actress Lee Dahae (East of Eden) and actor/singer Micky Yoochun (Sungkyunkwan Scandal) will be together in a new drama. Well folks, the rumor was right. They are confirmed casts of the upcoming MBC drama ‘Goodbye Miss Ripley‘. The thing that interests netizens is the fact that it is not the oh-so cliche love story. But it is more serious and is inspired by a national scandal that shook the media in 2007: it is the infamous ‘Shin Jeong Ah’ a university professor and art curator at Dongguk University, who forged her credentials to get hired, and then embezzled funds from the art gallery’s corporate sponsorships. She got hired in 2005 under the belief that she had earned a BFA and MBA from the University of Kansas and a PhD from Yale, when in fact she was only a high school graduate. Her boyfriend Byeon Yang-kyoon, 19 years her senior, was a presidential secretary at the time, and helped her forge the paperwork and get hired.
The drama isn’t a direct true crime story, but apparently is inspired by the scandal. How closely it resembles Shin Jeong-ah’s story remains to be seen, but so far it’s a good hint as to where the main character, played by Lee Da-hae, will go. Her character loses her family when she’s young, and gets adopted into an unhappy home, which is just the beginning of her unfortunate destiny. It probably speaks to the character’s motivation for the ensuing schemes. Meanwhile, actress Kang Hye Jung will also be making her return to dramas as the main character of “Goodbye Miss Ripley”. This will be her first time appearing in a drama since 2007’s “Flowers For My Life“ along with Kim Sung Woo (IRIS, Athena).
I wonder how Micky Yoochun fit into all this drama. You see, he is the goody-good romantic boy in his last drama and now he starts to be an influential boyfriend who helps her girlfriend do the crime thing. But who knows? Maybe his character is the other way around. Maybe he will still be the goody-good, less romantic and more righteousness man. Right?
Well, let’s find what what will happen in the drama which premieres on MBC this May 2011.

“Mischievous Kiss” special edition reaches its finale!
The phenomenon that started from the Baek Seung Jo and Oh Ha Ni‘s cute romantic love story that has finished in the drama ‘Mischievous Kiss’ and came up with a special edition that were posted on YouTube, finally bids a goodbye with its last episode posted online.
To all SeungNi or HaJo (or whatever couple name you call them) shippers, don’t be too upset and anxious for the last episode! The official YouTube channel will still be posting special behind the scenes clips and more goodies for the upcoming days!

BEAST’s member Yoon Doojoon turning into a perverted solider is quickly becoming a issue among the viewers.
On the new MBC daily sitcom ‘All My Love’ broadcasted on the 11th, Yoon
Doojoon appeared as the soldier who gets mistaken as a pervert.
Yoon Doojoon’s character leaves the military without any concern from his
family, and when he picks up a coin dropped underneath a female’s skirt, he starts to get misunderstood by the people, and when he is observed sleeping only in his underwear, he gets arrested and only gets out of jail with his mother’s help.
Meanwhile, netizens who saw Yoon Doojoon’s acting stated, “Here is to a birth of a new acting-idol”, “He digested the role of the perverted solider so perfectly”, “I anticipate his future acting”, and “I didn’t know he had this type of talent.”
So don’t get too surprise if one time you see BEAST’s Yoon DoJoon acting in a drama someday!

All My Love Episode 1: Jo Kwon & Ga-In Receive Praise For Their Acting
Viewers found themselves impressed with Jo Kwon and Gain’s comical performances on MBC’s new sitcom, “All My Love” where the virtual couple plays brother and sister
Shortly after the ending of the first episode viewers flocked to the online boards, expressing their thoughts on their performances writing comments like“Jo Kwon and Ga-Ins characters are daebak. It looks like everyday will become fun.”
“Considering it’s their first performance, both of them are really natural.”
“Ga-In is very charming and Jo Kwon is cute! Their performances match that of actual siblings very well.”
In the sitcom Ga-In plays a poor college student who lives off selling counterfeit shoes to her friends who she also lies to about studying abroad in order to hide the fact she’s penniless and had to drop out from school.
Ga-In’s character who is concerned with her small eyes saves her money getting a part job in order to get double eye lid surgery which her brother (Jo Kwon) steals some of the money and spends it all at a club.
In the end the show not only was able to receive praise from viewers but it debuted with a steady 8.5% rating viewership

Sungkyunkwan Scandal Ends With So-So Ratings
Despite never obtaining golden ratings, the final episode of Sungkyunkwan Scandal ended with a 12.8% rating on Tuesday
Premiering on August 30th Sungkyunkwan Scandal‘s viewership started off slow with a 6.3%. rating but it wasn’t until later that it was able to achieve double rating numbers with its highest point being Episode 16, that achieved a 14.3 rating.
Despite the ratings the drama proved to be a hit with fans who have been begging for another season and its OST has managed sell over 100,000 copies.
The next drama on KBS2 lineup to take over Sungkyunkwan Scandal‘s time slot will be Mary Stayed Out All Night that will premiere next week on November 8th.

Fugitive OST To Be Released Next Friday!
Well they sure don’t waste anytime!
Korea’s king of pop Rain recently returned to the small screen in the spy-action drama The Fugitive Plan B (a.k.a. Runaway Plan B), his first TV series in five years. Rain and Lee Na Young, herself making a TV comeback after six years, play competing operatives who cross paths on the hunt. They hide their true motives from each other, but budding romance puts an unexpected dent in their respective missions. From the director and screenwriter of Chuno, the highly anticipated globe-trotting drama co-stars Daniel Henney, Lee Jung Jin, Yoon Jin Seo, Uehara Takako, and Takenaka Naoto.
Rain didn’t participate in the soundtrack for Fugitive Plan B, but his proteges MBLAQ did. The popular boy band’s energetic theme song RUNNING&RUNNING matches the drama’s action-packed pace. Shin Seung Hun sings Rain’s character ballad theme “Do Not Believe in Love”, while Brown Eye Girls member Jea takes care of the heroine’s theme Poison. Hot girl group 4Minute and newcomer ORAN-G also contributed songs to the soundtrack.

Even though dramas like Sungkyunkwan Scandal & Playful Kiss started off with lousy ratings despite their popular male leads, with it being his last acting role before millitary duty fans were clearly excited to see Rain on the small screen again, as the action pack King of K-pop brought it big with his new drama Fugitive, at an excellent debut viewership of 20.7% beating out My Girlfriend Is A Gumiho who only held 16.6% despite it being in its last week!

With Rain’s new drama Fugitive to be released this week the actor gave his thoughts on his character as well as the amount of action scenes he had to go through most which involved lots of running. Goodbye Dough Boy, Hello Girlfriend: Gumiho Crowned The New Drama King
With ‘Baker King Kim TakGu’ out for the battle of the ratings and Chuseok Holiday specials currently airing – it has been reported that ‘My Girlfriend is a Gumiho’ has doubled their previous ratings for this week. According to TNS Media (September 23, 2010), the drama starring Lee Seunggi and Shin Minah reached the #1 spot and was the most viewed in their timeslot today.
