The new faces for popular idol group After School have been revealed!
Pledis Entertainment has chosen 2 final applicants as a potential member for After School. The audition involved a 3 step process where the applicants needed to apply online. The 2 applicants will battle their way to be the 9th member of After School.
The girls will not join the group straight away, and as of yet, nothing is known about who will become the next member of After School as they need to undergo training before being considered for their debut.
Pledis Entertainment advertised their recruitment through me2day from the 30th of July to the 16th of August. Applications were processed and they needed to pass the 2nd and 3rd stages of the audition.
After School is currently being managed under a unique system or process named the ‘entering and graduating system’. After School debuted as a 5 member group in 2009 and became 6 members with the addition of UEE, after which Yoo SoYoung left the group, with Raina, NaNa and Lizzy joining to make the group a total of 8-members.
On MBC’s variety show “Flower Bouquet”, , various girl groups came with their prizes and certificates from their school years, in order to break the prejudice that “idols somehow seem likely to be stupid”
On this day’s broadcast, the MC’s said: “as today’s topic is this, the casts are quieter than ever” and revealed that they did a survey on the ranking of the idols that seem the most likely to be stupid.
The survey results humiliated After School, who was in first place, and LPG in the second place. The MC’s said, “we’ll give you a chance to break these images,” and asked them to “show us the prizes and certificated from your school years to break those humiliating images”.
Lizzy of After School revealed that she got a certificate for writing good daily journals, and Raina said she received an award of merit, giving the casts a laughter. In Jooyeon’s case, she surprised everyone by confessing that she got an certificate for her outstanding maths skills.
Then, Nana revealed that she had a makeup artist licence and showed the MC’s the licence, drawing attention. (which got her in deep trouble later)
On the other hand, various girl groups on this day’s broadcast brought certificates mainly related to performing arts, and the MC’s gave them a somewhat abusive joke, “don’t you have a certificate related to intelligence?”
Ouch at least the ladies of After School were able to prove everyone wrong though sucks to be Nana right now!!
It was revealed today that After School’s UEE will be making a surprise cameo appearance in the drama My Girlfriend is a Gumiho.
In today’s episode, UEE will play the role of a student who becomes shocked over Miho’s charism.
An affiliated individual for the drama commented, “UEE has a special relationship with the Hong Sisters. The actress who appeared in the drama You’re Beautiful heard about My Girlfriend is a Nine-Tailed Fox and did not hesitate to make a cameo appearance.”
UEE commented, “Since it is a work by the Hong Sisters I had a lot of anticipation. I am currently seeing the episodes on television and as expected I think it’s a fresh and an endearing new work. Because I had a good relationship with them I am happy to greet the public again with this.”
Damn and here i was expecting her to act like a total diva like in Your Beautiful
Shinee’s Onew has pointed out After School’s Jungah as his ideal type.
During KBS Cool FM 89.1 ‘Lee Sooyoung’s Music show-ripple show idol’ broadcasted on August 21st, Onew revealed his honest thoughts on his ideal type.
Usually without saying anything specific about his ideal type, but with a consistent ambiguous answer of ‘SNSD’s Yoona from the makeup CF’, ‘Voice and girls with pretty hands’. However, Onew has stirred admiration today after choosing After School’s Jungah.
Followed by DJ Lee Sooyoung’s continuing questions, Onew said “Without knowing her exact age, I only know that she is a nuna.”
But DJ Lee Sooyoung who usually originally liked Onew, acted upset by the fact that she was not Onew’s ideal type which shocked him. At this, Onew said Lee Sooyoung’s voice was his ideal type with a distinctive killer smile and fixed up the awkward situation.

Netizens are at it again, After School’s UEE’s since their debut has been known for her belly fat, a few months back at a live performance of their hit “Bang!” netizens criticized UEE for her belly fat showing, something no one is used to seeing in a industry where everyone is expected to look thin, but after a live performance of Bang! this week UEE’s belly fat was once again present causing netizens to react once again
“Why didn’t they dress her in a looser outfit?”
“I can’t even breathe looking at that tight outfit.”
“It doesn’t seem like she didn’t gain so much weight.”
“This makes her feel more friendly.”
Seems like netizens are blowing her belly fat out of proportion as not only is there little to begin with but at first glance its very clear that the Bang! oufits are very tight on her body
After School got in the car to drive off for a nice vacation on After School Playgirlz.
With Kahi in the driver’s seat, they looked like a family rather than a girl group.
They never seem to lose their energy because as soon as familiar songs played, they danced and lip synced throughout the whole thing.
When miss A’s Bad Girl, Good Girl came on, all of them knew the dance moves. They all looked in their separate cameras and made enthusiastic facial expressions as if they were filming a music video.
They also supported their company’s other singer Son Dambi by singing along to her new song Queen.
Rookie singer G.NA recently held an interview with Korean news site The Star, where she revealed that she nearly debuted as a member of Afterschool.
It’s said that the possibility of this happening only arose because G.NA is very close friends with Afterschool’s UEE. Because G.NA followed her around so much, she was nearly put into the group during her trainee days.
The full explanation behind this story will be released on the 5th, along with the rest of G.NA’s interview with The Star.

Pledis clarifies, “After School Lizzy’s underwear exposure? It’s just the vest which came off slight
Pledis comes out to clarify amidst news reports talking about how After School Lizzy’s underwear had came off during a broadcast show which had fans and netizens feeling flustered.
This had happened during the filming of the summer special for ‘Pledis Girls School’, which started airing every week from July.
In one of the scenes, the members were filming some water games at the water ski park and have to ride on banana boat as a form of punishment. In the midst of riding the banana boat, the members had fell into the water and some members said, “It seems her clothes came off.”
A Pledis staff who was present at the filming site clarified, “It seems that some one’s vest had came off slightly when they fell into the water. It only came off slightly, there was not exposure of the underwear.”
Before the clarification, many fans had thought that it is a little too much for a 19-year-old teenage girl to have her underwear come off during a broadcast shows and had expressed their concerns.

JooYeon played referee while Kahi, Bekah, and NaNa were on one team, with JungAh, Raina, and Lizzy on another. The two teams went on to challenge one another with wakeboard races. JungAh’s team ended up having to get on the banana boat after losing to Kahi’s superior wakeboarding skills.
While riding the banana boat, the three members fell into the water when they least expected to. When they all fell into the water, Lizzy lost her swimsuit bottoms. The incident ended with Lizzy whining in her Busan accent.
This episode is scheduled to air on the 3rd at 12:10AM (KST).

Seven groups’ solo time measured
Even with just four seconds of singing, a singer nonetheless?
Average 16 seconds per person, less than one-tenth of a song.
Cases of no solo part, only repeating the refrain
Parading looks-stage presence, mass-producing “goldfish singers”.
“The Beauty of Four Seconds.”
This is the snarky label from the Internet for Heechul, member of an idol group Super Junior who only has four seconds of solo singing time in “Sorry Sorry,” the title song for the group’s third album. Together, there are 13 members of Super Junior who sang this song. Since all 13 divide up a single song, each member can call himself a “singer” after singing for only four seconds.
Lately there are increasing cases in which solo parts of a song last no more than a few seconds, as the number of members in the idol groups such as Super Junior, Girl’s Generation and After School increase. This is contributing to the pop culture in which those who rely on looks or conversation skills are considered “singers” regardless of their singing abilities.
Idol Group Members Sing 16 Seconds on Average
According to Dong-A Ilbo’s measurements of solo parts, seven idol groups (Girls’ Generation, Super Junior, 4minute, After School, Infinite, MBLAQ, f(x)) appearing on MBC’s “Show Music Core” (July 10), SBS’s “Inkigayo” (July 11) and KBS’s “Music Bank” (June 25), sang for 16 seconds per person on average. Because a song lasts around 3.5 minutes on average, each member of those group sang less than one-tenth of a song, excluding the chorus.
Among the groups, Girl’s Generation (singing “Oh!”) had the shortest solo parts, averaging 9.4 seconds per part. The main vocal Taeyeon sang for 22 seconds, while Seohyeon’s solo parts — two lines consisting of “oppa look at me, just look at me” and “listen, really” — amounted to 5 seconds. When After School sang “Bang!”, members Nana and Lizzy had no solo parts; instead, the two sang together for 8 seconds. Jooyeon’s solo part — “The heart-thumping night, my heart is oh oh oh oh” — lasted 4 seconds.
Infinite, singing “Come Back Again,” had the greatest time differential among the members’ solo parts. While the main vocal Kim Sunggyu sang for 29 seconds, Lee Sung-Jong, Lee Seung-Yeol and L sang for 1, 3 and 4 seconds respectively. The words that Lee Sung-Jong sang alone were four letters (다 거짓말 “all lies”). Lee Seung-Yeol only had the line, “Feels like I’m going to die, my head hurts.” Lee Young-Joon, director of Infinite’s management company, said: “It is not that the members have different singing abilities. It is more the case that the process of assigning the solo parts while taking the tone of this particular song into consideration made the parts of certain members relatively smaller.”
As individual singing is increasingly obscured through the lengthened chorus and the shortened solo parts, certain bloggers have taken to uploading videos of live performances with pre-recorded background music edited out, then proceeding to evaluate the singers.
No Shame in No Singing
Yoona of Girls’ Generation, in “Family Outing 2″ aired on SBS on June 27, said: “We can’t go longer than ten seconds (on solo parts),” and that her part is five letters. (말하고 싶어 “I want to say.”)
Since his debut, Heechul cumulatively sang 39 seconds of all Super Junior title songs; Yoona of Girls’ Generation, 42 seconds; and Nicole of Kara, 45 seconds. Instead of being embarrassed, they appear to treat this as a fodder for laughter. In MBC’s “Radio Star” aired on June 30, Jung-ah, member of After School, was a recipient of a joke from MC Kim Guk-Jin that she was “amazingly, a main vocal.” Jung-ah only responded by laughing and half-heartedly singing one line of a song. Goo Hara of Kara, whom music fans have pointed out for lacking singing ability, invited further criticism by only repeating the refrain “hallo hallo hallo” in Kara’s new song “Lupin,” released February of this year.
Music critic Im Jin-Mo said, “If there is only a few seconds of solo parts, a singer will naturally practice less singing — which is what singers are supposed to do,” and noted, “Another problem is that members with less solo parts will feel excluded, which hurts the teamwork of the group, shortening the group’s lifecycle.” Music critic Kim Jak-Ga said, “The more idol groups — who do not put much emphasis on singing — there are in the pop world, there is less room for singers with real talent.”
MBLAQ made a guest appearance on the most recent episode of ‘Infinity Girls,’ during which G.O confessed his desire to star on ‘We Got Married’ with Afterschool’s Jooyeon.
G.O made this confession during an activity entitled ‘Ranking as You Wish, 1, 2, 3,’ as he was asked to rank the top three female celebrities whom he would want as a wife if he made an appearance on ‘We Got Married.’ After picking Jooyeon, he explained, “I’ve been friends with Jooyeon for three years, and because we have opposite personalities, I think that we could show a funny image as a married couple by bickering all the time.”
Leejoon also received much attention when he responded yes to the statement, “I have been courted by a celebrity.” He raised even more eyebrows when he confidently stated that five celebrities have courted him before. However, Leejoon was not the only one to admit to this; his fellow members, Mir and G.O, marked “yes” to the statement as well. G.O confessed to having been courted by a total of three celebrities: a model, a singer, and an actress.
Mir switched up the surprised mood of the show when he confessed that his number one fear is his sister, Go Eunah, when asked to name the three things that scare him the most. “Ever since we were little, I always had the thought that I should always listen to my noona,” said Mir. “When we were young, noona [acted like a street chief,] so it was hard to lash out at her.” Mir’s next two choices were netizens and variety shows, respectively.
This episode of ‘Infinity Girls’ will come out on the 30th of July on MBC.

Kahi, the leader of the girl band After School, said her first impression of fellow diva and close friend Son Dambi, was “very strong.”
On the KBS-2TV “Happy Together 3″ talk show on Thursday, Kahi said the two were close from before their debuts but her first impression of Son wasn’t all that favorable.
Kahi said, “With just her looks, she looks very proud and haughty but this image crashed after one day. She’s actually very boyish and is nothing like a sly girl. So we became friends immediately.”
Son also said, “When I first saw Kahi, she was dancing in the studio. She danced so well and my first impression of her was also sharp and strong.”
Lizzy, the youngest in After School, summed up the exchange, saying, “You both look very strong, all right?” But she quickly followed up, “I’m the youngest and Kahi is so nice to me.”
