The Goguma Couple Produce An Impressive Number Of Sweet Potatoes On We Got Married

On the recent episode of MBC “We Got Married”, the YongSeo couple went to harvest their two rows of sweet potatoes. Sadly however, it turned out that the couple’s sweet potato field did not produce many sweet potatoes.
For SNSD’s Seohyun’s birthday present, CNBlue’s Yonghwa had given her 2 rows of sweet potato field. A couple months later, the two excitingly went to go see and harvest their sweet potatoes they had planted.
Yonghwa and Seohyun had already planned out who they would share their produce of sweet potatoes with, but as they got there, all they found were roots and no potatoes.
Seohyun, who grew irritated of only finding roots, started digging through the dirt rapidly saying, “How can this make sense? There’s really not even one? There’s only rocks. Come out, sweet potatoes, come out!”
Yonghwa and Seohyun only harvested a total of two tiny sweet potatoes. And instead of sharing the sweet potatoes to the people they both planned on sharing with, the “YongSeo” couple decided to make a dish, and come up with an excuse for why they couldn’t share their sweet potatoes.

Girls’ Generation attracts 20,000 fans to Japan showcase
Female K-pop group Girls’ Generation held their Japan debut showcase yesterday, attracting 20,000 fans to the event held at the Ariake Colosseum in Tokyo, according to their agency SM Entertainment.
SM also said that about a total 1,000 journalists, advertisers and record company officials attended the showcase where the girls sang their hit numbers including “GENIE,” “Oh!”, “Run Devil Run,” and “Gee.”
The nine-member group also revealed the music video for their Japanese debut single “GENIE” which goes on sale in the country starting September 8.
Girls’ Generation’s Japanese record label Universal Japan Nayutawave Records expressed its hopes for the group’s activities in Japan, explaining “About 80 percent of the audience were females in their teens to twenties which proves that the interest young women have in Girls’ Generation comes from the group’s appeal and not the K-pop boom. This will help solidify their status in the J-pop market.”
“We were so surprised to see so many fans at our showcase when we haven’t even debuted…… We are looking forward to the days that lay ahead of us in Japan,” the girls were quoted as saying after the showcase.
The showcase took place a total of three times instead of once — SM extended the number following Japanese fans’ heated interest in the girls.
The girls were greeted by some 800 fans upon their arrival at the airport in Japan on Monday and attendees of the showcase were purchasers of the group’s DVD which placed at No. 3 on the prestigious Oricon’s weekly DVD chart and fourth on the overall chart, making them the first Korean girl group to have their first DVD to rank in the top 5 slots.
Girls’ Generation, has been one of the most popular groups in Korea since their debut in 2007. They performed in several countries in Asia such as China, Shanghai and Thailand for their “1st ASIA TOUR CONCERT – Into the New World” last year.
The girls will soon fly to Los Angeles in the United States to take part in the “SMTOWN LIVE ’10 WORLD TOUR” to be held at the Staples Center on September 4.

SNSD Sits Down For An Interview To Talk About Manga, Learning Japanese, And World Domination
Korea’s hottest girl group, SNSD recently decided to take the heat to Japan, where they are slowly but surely achieving the same amount of fame that they get in their homeland! The Japanese expressed enough interest in them that they were able to sit down for an interview with ‘Marugoto’ magazine, a publication devoted to giving Japanese fans interesting tidbits on their K-pop girl groups.
They were asked about how they were doing with their Japanese and the girls revealed their favorite words
Taeyeon began the conversation, saying, “I’ve been interested in Japanese culture since school and I studied Japanese a little bit [then.] My favorite word is… “Yatta,” which means “Hooray!” or “I did it!”
Hyoyeon revealed, “Right now, we’re all getting through our office, and we are also studying by to Japanese songs and Japanese dramas.”
Tiffany got all otakun like and specified the names of a few anime comics that she’s been using to help her study, saying, “Because I like Miyazaki Hayao’s works, I am studying by watching animes like ‘My Neighbor Totoro.’ But I’m still a beginner….”
Yoona was clueless on what to say saying, “I can’t really participate in the lessons at the office very much so I’ll tell you [how I study] in the future. My favorite Japanese phrases are “doki doki” [which is the sound of a heart beating] and “arigatou gozaimaso” [which means “thank you.]”
Jessica gave one of her infamous smiles saying, “I like the standard phrase “Aishiteru.” I also like the way “Chotto zutsu” sounds – it’s cute.” Jessica’s chosen phrases mean “I love you” and “A little bit,” respectively.
Fellow member, Sunny, was even more lost than Yoona and did not offer Japanese learning advice nor reveal her favorite phrases, but did ask: “Weeell, this is a question, but is it true that you can hold a conversation with just the words “Doumo” and “Douzo?” “Doumo” and “douzo” are both words with several different meanings. Laughing, the interviewer stated, “Yes, you could say that – nice discovery, haha!”
The conversation finally turned to their August 25th concert where they were asked how they felt being dropped from Korea to Japan.
Sooyoung confidently said , “I’ve already lived in Japan before. I love Japanese food, so I was really happy.”
Sunny put on a warrior face saying, “It’s going to be a new challenge. At first I was worried about things, but now I’m really looking forward to it!”
Yuri pulled out her cheerleading outfit and said “fighting/hwaiting,” which is “Fight/Faito!” “Because I’m together with the members, I have more anticipation than anxiety,”
Yoona, however started sweating and said : “I’m naturally worried about language so I had better do my best and study more Japanese.”
Jessica and Tiffany were more than happy to pick up where Yoona left off with her mess when the girls were asked to name a J-pop song they were good at singing when out at a karaoke center. Jessica mentioned Mika Nakashima’s “Yuki no Hana,” while Tiffany said, “A senpai [sunbae] from my company, BoA’s ‘Possibility.’ In addition to that, I also like M-Flo; I have all of their albums.”
Taeyeon and Yuri ended the interview on a good note, promising that the girls would all try their hardest to become no.1. Yuri spoke for the entire team, saying, “I’ll work hard so fans will fill up all of the big venues. Everyone, let’s have fun this summer!”
This month just gets better and better.

Idols Show Off Their Eye Smiles
Stars have many different charms, and one of the most charming points are their eye smiles. Here are some idols that make others smile with their eye smiles.
TaeYang and Nichkhun are two of the representative male stars with pretty eye smiles. SHINee’s Onew and BEAST’s Lee KiGwang have also been chosen as idols with attractive eye smiles.
Onew recently made a comeback with SHINee’s newest album and single, Lucifer. He has been gaining lots of love from fans with his hard working, but twinkling eye smile. His eye smiles give off a good feeling, along with a charismatic appearance on stage when performing.
BEAST’s Lee KiGwang has also been capturing the hears of female fans with his bright smile on variety shows. Laughing out loud while showing his eye smile has become a sort of his trademark. On stage, he shows off a more tough side with his smokey make-up, but his eyes turn into a pure angel’s off stage.
As expected, SNSD’s Tiffany and f(x)’s Sulli have been chosen to have the best eye smiles amongst girl groups. Not only does Tiffany show her eye smiles while performing on stage, but she also shows them off off stage. Her infinite eye smiles make those watching her get into a better mood.
Sulli’s cute eye smile is appealing as well. Her eye smiles make her seem even more loveable.

Idol Groups Only Have a Few Words in Solo Parts as Number of Members Increase
Seven groups’ solo time measured
Even with just four seconds of singing, a singer nonetheless?
Average 16 seconds per person, less than one-tenth of a song.
Cases of no solo part, only repeating the refrain
Parading looks-stage presence, mass-producing “goldfish singers”.
“The Beauty of Four Seconds.”
This is the snarky label from the Internet for Heechul, member of an idol group Super Junior who only has four seconds of solo singing time in “Sorry Sorry,” the title song for the group’s third album. Together, there are 13 members of Super Junior who sang this song. Since all 13 divide up a single song, each member can call himself a “singer” after singing for only four seconds.
Lately there are increasing cases in which solo parts of a song last no more than a few seconds, as the number of members in the idol groups such as Super Junior, Girl’s Generation and After School increase. This is contributing to the pop culture in which those who rely on looks or conversation skills are considered “singers” regardless of their singing abilities.
Idol Group Members Sing 16 Seconds on Average
According to Dong-A Ilbo’s measurements of solo parts, seven idol groups (Girls’ Generation, Super Junior, 4minute, After School, Infinite, MBLAQ, f(x)) appearing on MBC’s “Show Music Core” (July 10), SBS’s “Inkigayo” (July 11) and KBS’s “Music Bank” (June 25), sang for 16 seconds per person on average. Because a song lasts around 3.5 minutes on average, each member of those group sang less than one-tenth of a song, excluding the chorus.
Among the groups, Girl’s Generation (singing “Oh!”) had the shortest solo parts, averaging 9.4 seconds per part. The main vocal Taeyeon sang for 22 seconds, while Seohyeon’s solo parts — two lines consisting of “oppa look at me, just look at me” and “listen, really” — amounted to 5 seconds. When After School sang “Bang!”, members Nana and Lizzy had no solo parts; instead, the two sang together for 8 seconds. Jooyeon’s solo part — “The heart-thumping night, my heart is oh oh oh oh” — lasted 4 seconds.
Infinite, singing “Come Back Again,” had the greatest time differential among the members’ solo parts. While the main vocal Kim Sunggyu sang for 29 seconds, Lee Sung-Jong, Lee Seung-Yeol and L sang for 1, 3 and 4 seconds respectively. The words that Lee Sung-Jong sang alone were four letters (다 거짓말 “all lies”). Lee Seung-Yeol only had the line, “Feels like I’m going to die, my head hurts.” Lee Young-Joon, director of Infinite’s management company, said: “It is not that the members have different singing abilities. It is more the case that the process of assigning the solo parts while taking the tone of this particular song into consideration made the parts of certain members relatively smaller.”
As individual singing is increasingly obscured through the lengthened chorus and the shortened solo parts, certain bloggers have taken to uploading videos of live performances with pre-recorded background music edited out, then proceeding to evaluate the singers.
No Shame in No Singing
Yoona of Girls’ Generation, in “Family Outing 2″ aired on SBS on June 27, said: “We can’t go longer than ten seconds (on solo parts),” and that her part is five letters. (말하고 싶어 “I want to say.”)
Since his debut, Heechul cumulatively sang 39 seconds of all Super Junior title songs; Yoona of Girls’ Generation, 42 seconds; and Nicole of Kara, 45 seconds. Instead of being embarrassed, they appear to treat this as a fodder for laughter. In MBC’s “Radio Star” aired on June 30, Jung-ah, member of After School, was a recipient of a joke from MC Kim Guk-Jin that she was “amazingly, a main vocal.” Jung-ah only responded by laughing and half-heartedly singing one line of a song. Goo Hara of Kara, whom music fans have pointed out for lacking singing ability, invited further criticism by only repeating the refrain “hallo hallo hallo” in Kara’s new song “Lupin,” released February of this year.
Music critic Im Jin-Mo said, “If there is only a few seconds of solo parts, a singer will naturally practice less singing — which is what singers are supposed to do,” and noted, “Another problem is that members with less solo parts will feel excluded, which hurts the teamwork of the group, shortening the group’s lifecycle.” Music critic Kim Jak-Ga said, “The more idol groups — who do not put much emphasis on singing — there are in the pop world, there is less room for singers with real talent.”
