MAMA Awards Is Turning Into Party For NONE: Rain & MBLAQ Won’t Be Attending

Is anyone coming????
After SM Entertainment revealed Super Junior, SNSD, and Shinee would not be attending this year’s MAMA Awards, J.Tune Entertainment artists Rain & MBLAQ have revealed will also not attending
With Rain currently busy filming his drama Fugitive and MBLAQ currently preparing their album for their comeback it sadly seems neither artist will be able to attend.

At this rate things aren’t looking good for the award show and with the pressure many are facing to not attend due to Inkigayo makes matters worse (more…)
MBLAQ Chickens Out & Pushes Back November Comeback To 2011
Despite their plans for a comeback in November it was announced that MBLAQ will instead be returning in 2011 in order to better “prepare” themselves for their new album.
It has been nearly 7 months since the group released their last mini album Y and only a few months ago did they stop their “One Better Day” promotions in order to concentrate on their next album.
Their company J.Tune Entertainment stated “We changed the date of MBLAQ’s comeback, which was supposed to be in November. The reason is because we are planning to perfect the album as best as we can.”
Fans in the meantime have noticed that member’s have been sporting new looks which led them to believe their comeback would be soon but the company clarified that, that was not the case stating, “We have not set an exact date but it will be around next year. It is a long time, but we are hoping you to anticipate their comeback even more.”
Fugitive OST To Be Released Next Friday!

Well they sure don’t waste anytime!
Korea’s king of pop Rain recently returned to the small screen in the spy-action drama The Fugitive Plan B (a.k.a. Runaway Plan B), his first TV series in five years. Rain and Lee Na Young, herself making a TV comeback after six years, play competing operatives who cross paths on the hunt. They hide their true motives from each other, but budding romance puts an unexpected dent in their respective missions. From the director and screenwriter of Chuno, the highly anticipated globe-trotting drama co-stars Daniel Henney, Lee Jung Jin, Yoon Jin Seo, Uehara Takako, and Takenaka Naoto.
Rain didn’t participate in the soundtrack for Fugitive Plan B, but his proteges MBLAQ did. The popular boy band’s energetic theme song RUNNING&RUNNING matches the drama’s action-packed pace. Shin Seung Hun sings Rain’s character ballad theme “Do Not Believe in Love”, while Brown Eye Girls member Jea takes care of the heroine’s theme Poison. Hot girl group 4Minute and newcomer ORAN-G also contributed songs to the soundtrack.

MBLAQ Gets An Interview + Photoshoot
After sitting down for a photoshoot for Hallyu Wave Magazine today the interview is out

Q: What was your impression after hearing “Y” for the first time?
G.O: Our previous song “Oh Yeah” was one that let out a fun mood in all aspects. This time’s “Y” is based on one image, but the expressions and message are different based on each part. I thought that was interesting. When I first listened to it, I thought that it would be fun to do a musical-like performance, and Rain gave us choreography like that, so I was able to practice happily.
Q: The singing parts for this song are minutely distributed. Was it Rain who decided who would sing each part?
Seungho: Yes, he did. From the start, our parts were divided up within the group. When I heard the song I predicted that “this might be my part,” but I have no discomfort with how Rain decided our parts.
Q: Compared to your debut song, you can feel that Mir’s dancing has improved. Did you do any special training?
(The other members jeer)
Mir: (Embarrassed laugh) During the promotions for this song, we each had our own activities so I didn’t do any special practicing, but I tried my hardest.
Q: Joon’s sensual choreography at the start of the song leaves a strong impression. What kind of guidance were you given?
Joon: That choreography as also done by Rain. First he showed me by example, and told me to do it like that, but I couldn’t easily do it. He gave me the advice that, “Men have to be able to show their sexiness without taking their clothes off,” and with my cell phone I filmed him dancing, and practiced many times while watching it.
Q: In the previous song Cheondung rapped, but this time you’re singing.
Cheondung: At first I was in charge of rapping, but I went to Rain and said, “Rapping is good too, but from now on I’d like to sing.” As a result of that, I’ve been able to sing this time.
Q: Why did you want to sing?
Cheondung: Rapping is fun to do as well, but I wanted to sing because I thought that I could more easily express my own feelings through singing.
Q: You’re in the middle of preparing for a full album. Have you been writing songs or playing instruments yourselves?
Seungho: Some of us have been learning songwriting because they want to include self-written songs on the album. Cheondung has one good song that’s almost in a state where it’s ready to be recorded. It hasn’t been officially announced yet, but we’re working towards being able to write songs in the style we want, and writing songs together as a group.
Q: What are your future plans for activities in Japan?
G.O: It hasn’t been fully decided yet, but I think that in the future we’ll have activities in Japan. For now, we’re studying Japanese a bit while thinking of the future. But we still haven’t accomplished our goals in Korea, so we’ll most likely work in Japan and overseas after we’ve achieved those goals.
After finishing the opening act at Saitama Super Arena, MBLAQ watched Rain’s performance. Leader Seungho says, “From the moment he stood on stage, I thought that his aura was completely different from ours. I felt that he’s someone in the clouds, still far from us.” This man, who has great skills in piano, said that he came up with the idea to do beat boxing in the intro track on their second album. Idol groups who are able to create their own music are increasing, and among them, MBLAQ whose name is an abbreviation for “Music Boys Live in Absolute Quality” seem to be a rare idol group with their feet firmly planted on the ground, continuing their music activities.
Q1. If you could bring one CD to a deserted island, what would it be?
Seungho: A CD of classical piano music.
G.O: I’d bring a collection of Korean pop songs, and listen to it when I’m bored or lonely.
Joon: (No answer)
Cheondung: One of Justin Timberlake’s albums.
Mir: MBLAQ’s “Y.”
Q2. What song have you been listening to lately on your mp3 player?
Seungho: A jazz song called “abfab.” (Note: A song by Finnish jazz trio Trio Töykeät)
G.O: Day26′s “Since you’ve been gone.”
Joon: Mariah Carey’s “I stay in love.”
Cheondung: Taeyang’s “Just a feeling.”
Mir: Taeyang’s “I need a girl.”
Q3. What comics, movies, or dramas of Japan do you like?
Seungho: For comics I like Slam Dunk and Naruto, and I like Kimura Takuya so I like the drama “Pride.”
G.O: Most Korean people like Japanese anime. One I can name is Slam Dunk.
Joon: The movie “Be With You.” (Ima, Ai ni Yukimasu)
Cheondung: I like One Piece but I also like Naruto! ^^
Mir: I really like comics; I have hundreds of volumes at home. The most interesting was Samurai Deeper Kyo.
Q4. What do you think you’ll be doing in ten years?
Seungho: Producer.
G.O: I want to be a singer recognized in Asia.
Joon: I’ll be filming movies.
Cheondung: I’ll have advanced as a musician.
Mir: MBLAQ world tour.

Idol Groups Only Have a Few Words in Solo Parts as Number of Members Increase
Seven groups’ solo time measured
Even with just four seconds of singing, a singer nonetheless?
Average 16 seconds per person, less than one-tenth of a song.
Cases of no solo part, only repeating the refrain
Parading looks-stage presence, mass-producing “goldfish singers”.
“The Beauty of Four Seconds.”
This is the snarky label from the Internet for Heechul, member of an idol group Super Junior who only has four seconds of solo singing time in “Sorry Sorry,” the title song for the group’s third album. Together, there are 13 members of Super Junior who sang this song. Since all 13 divide up a single song, each member can call himself a “singer” after singing for only four seconds.
Lately there are increasing cases in which solo parts of a song last no more than a few seconds, as the number of members in the idol groups such as Super Junior, Girl’s Generation and After School increase. This is contributing to the pop culture in which those who rely on looks or conversation skills are considered “singers” regardless of their singing abilities.
Idol Group Members Sing 16 Seconds on Average
According to Dong-A Ilbo’s measurements of solo parts, seven idol groups (Girls’ Generation, Super Junior, 4minute, After School, Infinite, MBLAQ, f(x)) appearing on MBC’s “Show Music Core” (July 10), SBS’s “Inkigayo” (July 11) and KBS’s “Music Bank” (June 25), sang for 16 seconds per person on average. Because a song lasts around 3.5 minutes on average, each member of those group sang less than one-tenth of a song, excluding the chorus.
Among the groups, Girl’s Generation (singing “Oh!”) had the shortest solo parts, averaging 9.4 seconds per part. The main vocal Taeyeon sang for 22 seconds, while Seohyeon’s solo parts — two lines consisting of “oppa look at me, just look at me” and “listen, really” — amounted to 5 seconds. When After School sang “Bang!”, members Nana and Lizzy had no solo parts; instead, the two sang together for 8 seconds. Jooyeon’s solo part — “The heart-thumping night, my heart is oh oh oh oh” — lasted 4 seconds.
Infinite, singing “Come Back Again,” had the greatest time differential among the members’ solo parts. While the main vocal Kim Sunggyu sang for 29 seconds, Lee Sung-Jong, Lee Seung-Yeol and L sang for 1, 3 and 4 seconds respectively. The words that Lee Sung-Jong sang alone were four letters (다 거짓말 “all lies”). Lee Seung-Yeol only had the line, “Feels like I’m going to die, my head hurts.” Lee Young-Joon, director of Infinite’s management company, said: “It is not that the members have different singing abilities. It is more the case that the process of assigning the solo parts while taking the tone of this particular song into consideration made the parts of certain members relatively smaller.”
As individual singing is increasingly obscured through the lengthened chorus and the shortened solo parts, certain bloggers have taken to uploading videos of live performances with pre-recorded background music edited out, then proceeding to evaluate the singers.
No Shame in No Singing
Yoona of Girls’ Generation, in “Family Outing 2″ aired on SBS on June 27, said: “We can’t go longer than ten seconds (on solo parts),” and that her part is five letters. (말하고 싶어 “I want to say.”)
Since his debut, Heechul cumulatively sang 39 seconds of all Super Junior title songs; Yoona of Girls’ Generation, 42 seconds; and Nicole of Kara, 45 seconds. Instead of being embarrassed, they appear to treat this as a fodder for laughter. In MBC’s “Radio Star” aired on June 30, Jung-ah, member of After School, was a recipient of a joke from MC Kim Guk-Jin that she was “amazingly, a main vocal.” Jung-ah only responded by laughing and half-heartedly singing one line of a song. Goo Hara of Kara, whom music fans have pointed out for lacking singing ability, invited further criticism by only repeating the refrain “hallo hallo hallo” in Kara’s new song “Lupin,” released February of this year.
Music critic Im Jin-Mo said, “If there is only a few seconds of solo parts, a singer will naturally practice less singing — which is what singers are supposed to do,” and noted, “Another problem is that members with less solo parts will feel excluded, which hurts the teamwork of the group, shortening the group’s lifecycle.” Music critic Kim Jak-Ga said, “The more idol groups — who do not put much emphasis on singing — there are in the pop world, there is less room for singers with real talent.”

MBLAQ’s G.O Wants to Marry Afterschool’s Jooyeon?
MBLAQ made a guest appearance on the most recent episode of ‘Infinity Girls,’ during which G.O confessed his desire to star on ‘We Got Married’ with Afterschool’s Jooyeon.
G.O made this confession during an activity entitled ‘Ranking as You Wish, 1, 2, 3,’ as he was asked to rank the top three female celebrities whom he would want as a wife if he made an appearance on ‘We Got Married.’ After picking Jooyeon, he explained, “I’ve been friends with Jooyeon for three years, and because we have opposite personalities, I think that we could show a funny image as a married couple by bickering all the time.”
Leejoon also received much attention when he responded yes to the statement, “I have been courted by a celebrity.” He raised even more eyebrows when he confidently stated that five celebrities have courted him before. However, Leejoon was not the only one to admit to this; his fellow members, Mir and G.O, marked “yes” to the statement as well. G.O confessed to having been courted by a total of three celebrities: a model, a singer, and an actress.
Mir switched up the surprised mood of the show when he confessed that his number one fear is his sister, Go Eunah, when asked to name the three things that scare him the most. “Ever since we were little, I always had the thought that I should always listen to my noona,” said Mir. “When we were young, noona [acted like a street chief,] so it was hard to lash out at her.” Mir’s next two choices were netizens and variety shows, respectively.
This episode of ‘Infinity Girls’ will come out on the 30th of July on MBC.
